Some catchy songs, but nothing that's going to really be appreciated over time. It's a far more casual album than kod was, which imo makes it a very boring or dull album. Not that it's bad, it's just not as heavy. If anything, the off season is a more braggadocios album from Cole, and very shallow lyrically. Deeper down, it's a case study into today's world of rap, new artists, and new styles that all follow the same creative styles and trends without any individualism and recognizing the problems and damage that brings to the genre and to the individuals who don't have a clear path or direction or sense of being with their newly found wealth and success. At surface level, it sounds like Cole flaunting his wealth and rapping over new age SoundCloud style beats. Kod is so much more intricate and meaningful than most people understand. Day by day, I'm so glad more people are coming to this realization.
